Surgery concluded - see comment below this post

  1. Dr. Benzel said the surgery went very well. Clark had a Schwannoma removed from his spine between the 11th and 12th thoracic vertebrae. This is a benign mass exactly like the one his mom had removed roughly 10 years ago. In addition, it was NOT growing inside of his spinal cord! Dr. B said that the type of growth and placement were the best Christmas present we could receive. Clark did well throughout the procedure and the doctors are very happy with how things went start to finish. I am waiting for him to wake-up. Clark has really enjoyed reading your comment; please keep posting and I will read them to him. More to come...

  4. Que noticias buenas. Me alegro mucho.

I think I refreshed the page every three minutes. The nieces and nephew were over and could not understand why I was on the computer non-stop. We love you all and are so pleased with the doctors comments. Please call if you need ANYTHING!!

  9. Hi Megan,

Schwannomas are indeed the most benign and least invasive masses-this is very good news. Often these can be shelled out carefully with little damage to surrounding structures. Again, we will be up on Thursday if you need anything - please let us know.

Joseph and Ethan look forward to having their coach up and drilling them again soon!
